5G-MOBIX: Presentation of the Spanish-Portuguese Cross Border Corridor and preliminary

The webinar is organised to present the Spanish-Portuguese Cross Border Corridor of the 5G-MOBIX project and its preliminary findings.

Particularly, it will give an overview of the corridor and the related use cases; the discussion will also include the 5G network infrastructure, as well as the Vehicle and Roadside one.

Moreover, the participants will be informed regarding the Technical Evaluation, User Acceptance and Impact Assessment aspects.

Conclusions and outcomes from the Spanish-Portuguese Cross Border Corridor will give a comprehensive summary of the work made so far by the consortium and its most relevant outcomes.

ISEL/FIT develops a predictive model for emergencies in Lisbon

ISEL is one of the entities included in the Lx Analytics Hub project, led by the Lisbon City Council and based on artificial intelligence solutions at the service of the city for urban emergency situations. LoRaWAN in Lisbon

FIT/ISEL carried out a study on Long-Range Low-Power (LoRaWAN) usage for Smart Cities verticals that led the City Council of Lisbon to launch a tender that will provide Lisbon with a LoRaWAN wireless network. LoRa allows long-range connectivity for Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as urban waste bin occupancy measurement, gardening water management systems, etc. See more …

Workshop GPON – FTTR / ITED4

ISEL and TEKA Portugal will promote GPON – (FTTR)FIBER TO THE ROOM / ITED 4 workshop on November 6th, from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm in Main Auditorium.
The workshop will address technical actions on the rapidly expanding and popular GPON – FTTR network design in the hospitality sector.
An overview of the changes introduced by the new ITED 4th Edition regulation will be presented.
These workshops are for ITED / ITUR telecommunications integrators, designers, trainers, students and IT managers.

ISEL/FIT helps to achieve a new LoRaWAN World Record

ISEL/FIT TTN gateway located at Amoreiras Towers (Lisbon) received successfully a communication from a weather balloon launched by the folks at Servet Project, from Saragossa, Spain at a distance of 741km “(…) Finally, the record was established at 741 km when the probe contacted Lisboa.(…)”. The communication was made using LoRaWAN, an IoT protocol where devices use at most 25mW on the 868MHz ISM band.

The World Record was later superseded by a new experiment from the University of Saragossa, with a confirmation of a contact at 766km with a gateway located at a Ski Resort.

ISEL/FIT is member of the new European Project : C-Streets

On 14 May, the European Cooperative Streets (C-Streets) project was officially launched. C-Streets is the follow-up of C-ROADS and ISEL/FIT is a member of the consortium leading the efforts on QoS/QoE determination. The purpose of the C-Streets is to test autonomous vehicles in urban scenarios, integrating Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (C-ITS). The agreement was signed today at the ITS2019 European Congress. Our participation in this project results from previous work in the area of the mobility, transport and telecommunications.
Next year Lisbon will have the privilege of hosting ITS2020 European Congress.
