On the 14th of October, Diogo Salgado (student) and professors António Serrador and Nuno Cota from the FIT/ISEL team participated in the first field measurements within the scope of the 5G-MOBIX project (an international project funded by the H2020 program of the European Commission). The tests were focused on the Portugal (Valença) – Spain (Tui) cross-border as part of the corridor linking the cities of Vigo and Oporto. The main objective is to lay the foundations for the implementation of the 5G Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) services and applications and to give a strong impetus in the Iberian Peninsula to the development of new opportunities in both 5G and the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) sector. In particular, the task of the FIT/ISEL team was to stress and evaluate the performance of the portuguese and spanish 5G networks implement for the project. Alongside side the FIT/ISEL team, many important industry players from both the portuguese and spanish sides were also involved: A-to-Be, Nokia PT, Nokia ES, NOS, Telefónica, Infraestruturas de Portugal, CTAG, among others. Further tests will take place in the months of October, November and December.
