At the invitation of Dr. Isabel Soares Carneiro, President of the IDESCOM Association, Professor José Simão will represent ISEL at the workshop “Fatores de sucesso do ecossistema da mobilidade numa nova dinâmica das cidades do futuro – as pessoas, as organizações, os recursos”, next April 3rd, part of the Alenquer Business Forum 2025 (FEA 2025).
During the session, Professor José Simão will present the ongoing project “Platform for the Management and Operation of Multimodal Transport Networks”, developed under the ATE – Alliance for Energy Transition consortium.
ISEL’s contribution to this project includes:
- Defining the system architecture for passenger counting data collection across different vehicles and multimodal stations.
- Processing and providing real-time data through a centralized platform.
- Integrating new contextual data, such as weather and traffic conditions, to develop vehicle occupancy prediction models.
João Cravo, an ATE project scholarship holder and MEIC student, is currently working on incorporating these new data sources. His research contributes to improving transport network operations and aligns with his ongoing master’s thesis, co-supervised by Professor Matilde Pato.
Participation in this workshop highlights the crucial role of technological innovation and collaboration between academic institutions, municipalities, and businesses in building a more sustainable future for urban mobility.
